Texting (SMS) Policy for Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission
For client and participant convenience, the Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission (NKCAC) offers a text message service that provides information including (but not limited to) appointment scheduling, application status, benefits information, job application status, NKCAC program and participant updates, and to request signatures or initials. NOTE: Phone numbers obtained or collected will not be shared with 3rd parties or for affiliate marketing purposes.
Consent
Upon granting consent to receive SMS from our company, we assure you that your SMS consent will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates. Your phone number and SMS consent will be utilized exclusively for communication with you and will not be disseminated for marketing purposes.
Clients/participants who wish to receive text message updates regarding NKCAC services are required to complete a Texting (SMS) Authorization form consenting to the following:
- Client/participant understands that texting over mobile/cell phones carries security risks because text messages to mobile/cell phones are not encrypted. This means that information received by text message could be intercepted or viewed by an unintended recipient or by the client/participant’s mobile/cell phone provider or carrier.
- Client/participant understands that they are responsible for all fees charged by the carrier’s service plan for text messaging. NKCAC and its affiliates are not responsible for any increased charges, data usage against plan limits, or changes to data fees that may be charged from text messaging.
- Client/participant understands it is their responsibility to contact NKCAC to update their mobile/cell phone number listed on the Texting (SMS) Authorization Form should it change.
- Client/participant may Opt-in or Opt-out of this service at any time. It is the client/participant’s responsibility to contact NKCAC to complete a new authorization form should they change their mind.
Types of Texting (SMS) Communications
Following consent, you may receive messages pertaining to appointment scheduling, application status, benefits information, job application/interview updates, NKCAC program and participant updates, and to request signatures or initials. Examples of potential message types include:
• Clients and Guests: Updates regarding application status, reminders about scheduled appointments, notice of awarded benefits.
o “Dear Melissa Willis, don’t forget your appointment with Laura Torres on October 1, 2023, 9:30 AM EST.”
o “Hello. This is Laura Torres, your application for assistance has been accepted. We are paying $400 toward your Duke Energy bill.”
- Participants and Parents:
o “Hello! Don’t forget Wellness Wednesday is tonight at 7 PM in the Lincoln Room.”
o “Timecards are due to Sandy by noon on Wednesday.”
o “Suzy had a great day today. Thank you for sending in snacks for the whole class.”
o “Parent/Teacher Conferences are tonight. Your appointment is scheduled for 5-5:30 pm in Room 110. Please let us know if you need to reschedule.” - Job Applicants: Information concerning your application status and scheduling of interviews.
o “Hello Emily, this is Dorothy/HR with NKCAC. Christina Wassem would like to schedule a 30-minute phone screen with you. I will send you an email with her availability. Thank you! Dorthy.”
o “Hi James, I wanted to give you a heads up that an email regarding our pre-employment screening next steps has been sent to you. Please confirm you have received the email and let me know if you have any questions. Thank you, Christina.” - “Thank you for signing up to receive NKCAC text messages. Reply STOP to opt-out at any time, reply HELP for assistance.”

To opt out of SMS communications, reply “STOP.”

Message Frequency
You may receive approximately 2-3 messages per day related to your requests, though this frequency may vary based on whether you are actively applying for services or currently enrolled in programing.
Changes to This Texting (SMS) Policy
We may update our Texting Policy from time to time. Thus, we advise you to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Texting Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
Texting (SMS) Authorization Form
Click here to download the Texting (SMS) Authorization Form. This form gives you the option to Opt-In or Opt-out of receiving text messages from NKCAC. Hard copies are also available from your local Neighborhood Center, or the Program Director/Site Manager. Once completed, the form should be included with your application. If at any time you change your mind, you may download and fill out a new form, and submit it to your Neighborhood Center, Program Director/Site Manager.
