POSITION TITLE: YouthBuild Program Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Community Development

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: YouthBuild Construction Supervisor, YouthBuild Counselor/Case Manager. Construction Trainer; Trainees

POSITION SUMMARY: Manage YouthBuild Program operations including staff supervision, budget management, coordination of sub-contracted services and trainee payroll and disciplinary systems with a focus on promoting trainees’ total wellbeing.

POSITION SUMMARY: Manage YouthBuild Program operations including staff supervision, budget management, coordination of sub-contracted services, collaborative partner relations, interface with Grantors and YouthBuild USA, and Trainee payroll and disciplinary systems with a focus on promoting Trainees’ total wellbeing.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assure compliance with all requirements of the YouthBuild Grant, maintaining all program statistics and records.
  2. Prepare and file reports as required by Granting authorities.
  3. Develop and implement participant recruitment plan, overseeing participant assessment and selection process.
  4. Develop and implement participant orientation program.
  5. Monitor program budget assuring it is in compliance with specifications stipulated in the Grant.
  6. Develop and implement program curriculum, guidelines, procedures, and manuals.
  7. Plan and organize curricular programming, including: Educational track, Construction track, Life Skills track, Enrichment programming, and Community Service track.
  8. Coordinate Program interface with Collaborative Partner programs, and develop additional mutually beneficial partnerships.
  9. Meet regularly with staff to develop and maintain a consistent approach to support and expand the personal growth and leadership skills of the Program’s young people.
  10. Coordinate Trainee advancement through the program, and on to college or jobs; maintaining continuity of support for Program-term-plus-1-year.
  11. Participate in the marketing of the Program to potential employers, developing job opportunities for the Program and in turn the Trainees.
  12. Promote the program and its outcomes within the Northern Kentucky community, and beyond; making presentations about YouthBuild to businesses and community organizations; prepare public relations information such as brochures, newsletters and press releases.
  13. Help raise program funds from public and private funding sources; maintain relations and flow of information with funders.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: The Program Manager must be able to:

  • Exhibit a strong commitment to helping young people succeed in an innovative training program, to reorient their lives, nurture their leadership skills, and enable them to make a difference in their lives, families, and communities;
  • Demonstrate creativity and sensitivity in establishment of rapport with and motivation of  a multiracial and multicultural group of young people;
  • Demonstrate creativity and adaptability in Program formation, reorganization and implementation;
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
  • Demonstrate organization and office skills for purposes of maintenance of detailed Program records and reports and presentations, as well as an ability to master, or learn and master, online and computer-based utilities and programs;
  • Make public presentations to a wide range of audiences;
  • Maintain effective relationships with major and minor YouthBuild collaborative partners, as well as local community, business and special interest groups;
  • Train, supervise, evaluate, and lead subordinates;
  • Promote Agency mission, values and standards;
  • Demonstrate a willingness to promote and value mission accomplishment over clock and schedule.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:        Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management, Social Sciences, Social Work, Education, or related fields; and at least four years experience in a related position, or such other combination of education and/or experience, as may be determined by the Director of Community Development, and the Executive Director, to demonstrate the competence to effectively perform the duties of the position. Familiarity with applicable Federal rules and regulations governing the Program; basic principles of public and community relations; methods of report preparation and presentation; and principles and practices of supervision and training are desirable.  Familiarity with construction concepts/principles desirable, but not indispensible. Better than average computer and computer-based communication and social-networking skills a must.
