POSITION: Weatherization Technician
LOCATION: Florence, KY, traveling throughout eight county region

POSITION SUMMARY

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The weatherization and insulation of approved applicant’s homes in accordance with weatherzation guidelines and procedures.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Upon assignment, to make home repairs that will retrofit dwellings in accordance with standards to minimize heat loss and improve thermal efficiency. Such repairs are to include, but not be limited to:

  •  Fit and install weather-stripping exterior trim and hardware such as hinges and locks.
  • Apply insulating material to exposed surfaces of structures such as air ducts and hot/cold pipes.
  • Measure, fit, cut, wrap and attach required insulation material to specified size and shape for covering surfaces.
  • Blow insulating material into spaces within walls, floors, and ceiling.
  • Climb ladder or erect scaffolding to reach working position,
  • Seal insulation access holes using plugs or drywall.
  • Assist in the installation of ventilation products with guidance as required.
  • Cut and fasten glass panes into wood sash with glazier points and smooth putty around edges of panes.
  • Apply by cut, fit, or nail composition weatherboard sections to the exterior of buildings and underside of mobile homes.
  • Weatherproof surfaces in siding filling joints or cracks with approved materials.
  • Repair both shingled and metal roofs using shingles, rolls roofing, tar, membrane coating, flashing, and fasteners.
  • Assist in repairing and maintaining machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing and electrical systems if required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or Program Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Training at a trade, vocational, or technical school or on the job/union training helpful/
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to be insured.
  • Must accept direction and supervision, and work cooperatively with other staff.
  • Willing and able to receive job training.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse and varying socio-economic backgrounds.
